I wrote this over the weekend, after reading my autism assessment report and seeing how many times I’m described as this, usually before all my flaws are laid out bare. And then reading a BBC news article about an autistic mother who was failed by all the systems meant to help us. The first thing they say is how articulate she was.
Why is that the go to word? said with shock and awe and surprise Like a shining light we should be proud of the same way ‘normal’ people can be proud Of running marathons and starting companies and living their life We can be proud of putting together a really fucking nice sentence.
Ooo, yes! I’m ‘articulate’ too. I love the tone of the piece.
So glad you wrote this!
